Symphony Awakening is a story… a song… a celebration… a calling…. a call for help from an indigenous tribe deep in their ancestral rainforest in the Amazon.
The elders of the Achuar tribe said "if you are coming to help us, you are wasting your time… our futures as a people are interconnected and if we really want to help them, we need to go back to the tribes of the north, the tribes of the modern world and wake them up from their destructive dream of separateness – over-consumption without regard for social and environmental consequences — that is driving the destruction of the rainforests around the world.
This moment in time represents the greatest turning point in the known history of humankind — the Symphony of Life is Awakening… a new future is within our grasp.
The mission of the Symphony Awakening Concert is to celebrate the emergence of a New Dream.
Leading cultural philosophers and activists/thought-leaders point out that a large movement is emerging around us already. Some call it "The Great Turning," "The Turning Tide," or "The Great Transformation."
The emerging future for human beings can be much richer than merely fixing problems: by changing the Dream of separateness that has evolved in the modern world and recognizing our interconnectedness, a future becomes possible that would include environmental sustainability, social justice, and spiritual fulfillment as the guiding principles for our entire planet.
Given that Empire has prevailed for 5,000 years, a turn from Empire to Earth Community might seem a hopeless fantasy if not for the evidence from values surveys that a global awakening to the higher levels of human consciousness is already underway. This awakening is driven in part by a communications revolution that defies elite censorship and is breaking down the geographical barriers to intercultural exchange.
When we look around, there is already a huge expression of a New Dream emerging as though the Earth's immune system is being called into action!
The largest ever social movement in history is rising… organizing from the bottom up, in every city, town, culture and country. The movement embraces the work for human rights, for the protection of our environment, for access to education, healthcare, housing, food and water. This "movement" has no name, leader, or location, no tanks, helicopters or bombs and has gone largely ignored by politicians and the media.
Lynne Twist said, "People want to know what to do, and I think that's a good question too. But a more profound question and a more powerful question is who do we need to be? And I think who we need to be are people who know that the decisions and choices we make now impact the future of life for the next hundred years. Everybody alive today has a role to play. You don't have a big role and you don't have a small role, you just have your role. And if you play it, then your life will really have a kind of meaning that you've dreamt of.
Citizens are "waking up" from the trance we are living in, identifying the unexamined assumptions that create and maintain the trance, and beginning to appreciate the extraordinary possibilities emerging at this time in history. People are discovering their unique and powerful role as agents of change in creating a new future and are celebrating the fact that we are the ones our children have been waiting for.
